TroClose™
Port Closure System
At Gordian Surgical, we’re committed to delivering innovative solutions that enhance surgical efficiency and improve patient outcomes. TroClose™, our advanced 2-in-1 integrated trocar and port closure device, is designed to streamline procedures while reducing patient pain and being environmentally conscious.
The Need
Port site hernia rates in laparoscopic surgeries have been reported in the literature to be as high as 7%, often due to varying methods of closure that can compromise on both cost and time. Our revolutionary 2-in-1 integrated trocar and port closure device, the TroClose™ system, has demonstrated a 0% port site hernia rate, providing a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for surgeons worldwide. Backed by rigorous research and a commitment to excellence, Gordian Surgical is redefining standards in surgical care.

NeedlELess Anchor-Based Closure
TroClose™ 1200 uses a unique 180-degree suture deployment that forms a half-loop knot system, significantly reducing tissue tension by 75% compared to common full-loop systems (Feasibility Study, NUIG, 2013). This reduction in tension has been shown to potentially lower post-operative pain at one week compared to suturing alone (Iranmanesh et al., 2019).
automated Closure
Our innovative device allows for automated planned closure, initiated at the start of every procedure with obturator peritoneum-based referencing. This eliminates the challenges of toggle motion commonly experienced with other port closure devices, ensuring a smoother and more precise closure process.
Enhanced Safety & Efficiency
TroClose™ 1200 aligns with the 2021 SAGES recommendation that all pneumoperitoneum should be safely removed before trocar removal and port site closure. As the only system on the market that doesn’t require pneumoperitoneum or additional visualization, it provides a safer and more efficient closure process.
Proven Surgical Outcomes
The TroClose™ 1200 has set a new standard in surgical closure devices, as demonstrated in a recent multi-center study by Hazzan et al., 2020 showing a 0% port site hernia rate at a 1-year follow-up, underscoring its effectiveness in preventing one of the most common post-operative complications.
Inventory Optimization
Tailored for space-conscious hospitals and Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), TroClose™ 1200 reduces multiple SKU inventory requirements. Its all-in-one system frees up valuable shelf space and minimizes operational complexity, allowing healthcare providers to focus on patient care.
Sustainability Commitment
In line with Gordian Surgical’s dedication to sustainability, TroClose™ 1200 significantly reduces the need for multiple single-use items, helping the healthcare sector move towards net-zero carbon emissions. By combining a cannula and port closure device into one integrated solution, we are cutting down on waste while maintaining the highest standards of surgical care and efficiency.

“I observed the use of Gordian's device in a live surgery during the recent Congress and understood that it made a very positive impression on the surgeons who participated in/observed the surgery. The TroClose provides a clear advantage to the closure of laparoscopic ports, especially in obese patients”
Erik Wilson, MD
University of TexasMcGovern Medical School
Houston, TX, USA
“I believe trocar closure can be vital to prevention of laparoscopic port site hernias. However, patient pain and lack of surgeon ease of use can prevent adoption of trocar closure devices. The TroClose makes trocar closure quick, easy and accurate for the surgeon and the lack of closed loop suture with the placement of absorbable tags can reduce pain significantly.”
